Meet Goatly, our new iPad (excuse the obscure animated comedy references). Thanks to the in-laws, I can now entertain [distract] myself for hours playing with GarageBand for iPad. I’ll have to look at some of the other music apps down the road.

If you haven’t seen it already…
Eric Whitacre’s Virtual Choir performing Sleep. Over 2,000 singers from all over the world submitted videos of themselves singing one part, then Eric’s assistant cut everything together and this video was made.
Out with the slightly old, in with the newest?
My friend and mentor Les Taylor has an interesting post on his blog about the state of concert music publishing and how it relates to our need for “newness”. Besides the post itself, there is also a great discussion in the comments with contributions from Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, Dr. Charles Menghini, and more: http://www.lestaylorpublications.com/blog/?p=33.
The view from Ithaca
I just got back from New York where I visited the Ithaca College School of Music. Apart from meeting the great Dana Wilson himself, I was able to get a few pictures of the great view. Ithaca sits on top of a hill which overlooks Cayuga Lake, Cornell, and most of the town of Ithaca. This picture was taken on a cloudy day in winter…I can only imagine what it would look like in the Summer or Fall with clear skies.
